Wallpaper is the epitome of cosiness. At the same time, people are choosing to dress their own four walls in increasingly daring colours. More than anything else, the 2010 trends are characterised by variety: blackberry shades, nude looks, gleaming textures and large-scale patterns – many trends from the fashion world are being reflected in the selection of wallpapers available too. One enduringly popular style is a plain-coloured room with just one patterned wall that accentuates the space rather like a big painting.

Wallpaper is increasingly being acknowledged as a lifestyle product for designing interiors – a development that is being accompanied by growing acceptance of fleece wallpaper. Unlike their paper counterparts, fleece wallpapers do not expand when the paste is applied. That means no vertical creases and no distortions of the joins in the pattern as it dries. In addition, fleece wallpaper is relatively easy to remove in one piece – an aspect that allows consumers to indulge even their short or medium-term creative preferences.

The German Wallpaper Institute from Düsseldorf will be showing the latest trends for interior design with wallpapers at the imm cologne. Two cubes at Pure Village will be exhibiting the latest collections from association members A.S. Création Tapeten AG, ATF Ammendorfer Tapetenfabrik GmbH, BTS Brandenburger Tapeten Schwedt GmbH, Erfurt & Sohn KG, Erismann & Cie. GmbH, Florian-Caspar-GmbH, Marburger Tapetenfabrik J.B. Schaefer GmbH & Co. KG, P+S International, Pickhardt + Siebert GmbH, Gebr. Rasch GmbH & Co. KG and Rasch Textil GmbH & Co. KG.
