The innovations at the coming imm cologne (14th to 20th January 2013) include the new trade fair theme “European Lifestyles” in Hall 1, where manufacturers from Rumania, Estonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia will be presenting themselves in attractive national pavilions.
There will also be a joint presentation by young, innovative companies from Germany, who will be presenting themselves to a broad audience here for the first time as part of a sponsorship project initiated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. They will be joined by a number of strong individual exhibitors from various countries, including Germany, Portugal and Italy.
With the new “European Lifestyles” concept, the trade fair has created a new attraction in Hall 1 for all buyers who are just as interested in compelling quality and sales-boosting design as they are in a convincing price-performance ratio.

Prized by the more than four million visitors during the 184 days of the EXPO 2010, the German Pavilion is now officially “prized” by the experts too. An international commission made up of representatives of the Bureau International des Expositions (B.I.E.), which awards the EXPOs, plus well-known architects and museum directors was so impressed by the concept that it recommended the Chinese organising body, the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, bestow it with first prize in the “Theme Development” category. The pavilion, a demanding project, was organised and run by Koelnmesse International GmbH.
“The years of preparation and the attention to detail have paid off. What a way to finish! We’re over the moon“, said a delighted Dietmar Schmitz, the German Pavilion’s Commissioner General from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, as he picked up the award. “I should like especially to thank the German Pavilion team, the masterminds behind the pavilion and everyone who brought it to life over the past six months as the face of the German Pavilion and ambassadors for Germany.” The exhibition was designed by Stuttgart-based agency Milla und Partner, the architecture was the work of Schmidhuber + Kaindl in Munich and the pavilion was built by Nussli (Germany).

Each year, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) determines which leading trade fairs can be supported through involvement in shared stands. The aim of this promotion programme is to support young entrepreneurs in the marketing of innovative products.
Through this, the BMWi aims to strengthen both Germany as a centre of innovation and the export of new products and processes. For 2009, imm cologne, which will take place from 19 to 25 January 2009, has been included in the promotion programme alongside other leading Koelnmesse trade fairs.
